Canine Myofunctional Therapy (CMT) is an amazing tool which when correctly applied, encourages the body to heal itself. Obviously factors contributing to injury / imbalance need to be addressed too. Massage improves circulation and stimulates lymphatic flow. With improved circulation, comes elimination of wastes from tissues and new blood, bringing nutrients to the tissues. Massage can break down adhesions and scar tissues, release spasms, lengthen connective tissue and enhance muscle tone. Stretching recalibrates the muscle and tendon and returns joints to an improved range of motion.
KarmaK9 Dog Massage will tailor a massage to your animal’s individual needs using a combination of techniques that best allows the natural healing process to work most effectively to give the animal the best chance to reduce muscle / joint pain, improve its behavioural responses and retain good health and wellbeing.
Even though dogs look very different to humans they share many of our body’s characteristics. We all know that animals like people, feel pain when they are injured or sick. However recognising pain in animals can be difficult because animals do not act the same way that people do when they are in pain.
CMT takes factors such as breed, medical conditions, diet, lifestyle and exercise into account. Observation of the dogs gait, posture and overall body balance can show clues to how they may be contributing to the physical and emotional status affecting the dog.
A CMT therapist will work on the fascia and muscle groups that are mainly used for movement looking for muscles that have indicators of trauma, blow or injury, some injuries can be short term and some may have been there for some time and become chronic.
If an animal has been injured they tend to make compensations that can ultimately lead to further injuries and behavioural problems while abused animals can have emotional responses which may make them appear dangerous to handle.
With understanding, patience, care and application of Canine Myofunctional Therapy Massage by a qualified CMT therapist your dogs behavioural, muscular and health problems may be improved and in some cases overcome. |
